Applied Linguistics and Multilingualism BA

Applied Linguistics and Multilingualism is a major grounded in interdisciplinary studies. Students explore a variety of intriguing topics, such as: How do we learn a second language? Are there “better” ways of teaching languages? Who is a bilingual? How is language related to complex social structure and diverse social identities? Special recognition to the following language students: Joanna Gil and Melanie Guther recipients of the 2017 Achim Perner award and Nicholas Fuhrman, recipient of The Peter Rushton Memorial Scholarship for 2017 and to Lina Li, 2016 recipient.

Congratulations to Spanish studies major, Rosa Sanchez, who was awarded a Koret Scholorship for 2018.  Her project titled: Youth Identity Formation Amongst Indigenous Oaxaqueños.
