We are delighted to welcome Dr. Ariel Chan to our department as Assistant Professor of Chinese and Applied Linguistics. Ariel received a Ph.D. in East Asian Linguistics from the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of California, Los Angeles in 2023 and comes to our department from Stanford University, where she was a Provostial Fellow and Lecturer. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on bilingualism, heritage and second language acquisition, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, and interactional linguistics.
